Righteous companions are precious gifts
They who you should surround yourself with.
They may be few and far between
But all you need is to trust in Him.
In finding the righteous companion,
Consider factors and opinions.
Perhaps the most important of all matters
Is finding one who can aid your Hereafter.
One who can guide you in the deen
In practice, and in believing the unseen.
The example of a good companion
in comparison with a bad one,
is like that of the seller of perfumes
and the blacksmith and his noxious fumes.
The perfume seller near you would,
Only bring benefit as he should.
You would either buy musk he sells,
or enjoy and benefit from the good smell.
Whereas the bellows and fire of the blacksmith
Are what would your clothes be singed with
Or be around them too long
Would leave a bad nasty smell thereof.
So strive to look for and
Keep company with them.
Who would teach you if you do not know,
Show you the right way if you err,
Guide you if you’re misled,
Remind you if you forget.
