SIMPLE WORDS

He heard the simple words she said

Soft lips they pierced against his heart

His world just drifts and falls away

And from within it falls apart

A cage that was never built to last

Familiar shiver jolts down ‘neath his spine

Of chilling echoes of images past

Drawn from memory of a once feeble time

His pencil shades the spaces hollowed

Connect the dots to re-tune and sync

Blanket the skies and light the morrow

To seek balance on filth and a frail limp

As he passed procession of their sudden death

In red tears he solemnly, and reluctantly wept

And hushed with a gasp of life’s cold breath

No mere simple words, he felt and thus fell

KEEP THE FAITH

Scent of the one vile ward lingers on in the mind

Leaving pale traces of a once forgotten time

Just this once in my lifetime I do want to feel

Divine salvation extirpating the soul from the kneel

Substantial time to ameliorate off these scars

For I’ve been snagged in this chasm too deep and far

And the days just go by tabulating questions in the mind

Anticipating blind promises the angels hath undersigned

Habitual coil and curl into an involuntary repose

All those passed was ne’er meant to be, one suppose?

Drowning whilst swimming in depths never taken

Astray and asleep, was I ever really forsaken?

Wilt and wounded, surrendering to forlorn forgotten fate

Bereft of promised true love, determined He left me for dead

For what do I deserve a prolonged and protracted trial

Seething fumes of hate to an inequitable and unjust denial

“But lo! with hardship goeth ease; with hardship goeth ease”

To none but the Lord thou shalt continue to please

Consecutive passing showers a mere trial, a terse facade

Foaming faith, the bosom will gradually henceforth dilate

Once dour esteem and fame thus exalted and appraised

To alleviate this once thought unsurpassable malaise

Bountiful rewards and present pleasures will be met soon,

Coruscating light and precious treasures embodying the moon!

I want to be the pillar of your strength

To be the light of hope until the end

Through all the straights and all the bends
